How did the Sam and Shermeen Greenmun family get into the luxury apparel business?
Well...Sam is an entrepreneur with a twenty-five years career in the film industry. He has created special make-up effects as well as specialty costume design and fabrication for movies, TV, commercials & music videos, and has even been nominated for an Emmy Award. He has worked with and dressed accomplished Hollywood talents such as Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, Patrick Stewart, Bruce Willis, Eddie Murphy, Hilary Swank, Kurt Russell, Tommy Lee Jones, Mike Myers, Bryan Cranston, Heather Graham, Britney Spears and Moby. Wear it iz, LLC was launched by Sam, the company Owner & Creative Director, in 2019 as a luxury apparel brand that had contracts with businesses and organizations for custom logo shirts requested for events, employees, branding, etc. The brand grew organically.
Once the pandemic hit in February 2020 within the US, our clients came to us requesting custom, reusable, washable face coverings. We created some custom design face masks for our UHNW clients and soon we started receiving more requests from various companies from across the board. We produced unique, comfortable face masks made of top quality materials, customized and decorated locally in Los Angeles, with a variety of fabric and design options and ways to wear them, from adjustable, filter pocket, zipper pouch, personalized, organic, recycled, eco-friendly, USA made and color-coordinated ear loops or headbands, which some of our superstar athletes love. All of our face masks are reusable and washable, feel very luxurious on and are still affordable. We want to ensure that our products provide the maximum protection that a Reusable, washable mask can provide while feeling ultra-soft and super comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. In maintaining our goal for fine quality and fun fashion, our products received traction via word of mouth in Los Angeles. We are the coolest underground brand that was born in LA.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam & Shermeen Greenmun and we’ve shared our conversation below.Hi Sam & Shermeen, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?We feel the most important thing we do for our children as parents is to give them hope. To be present for, listen to and discuss with our children those topics that are important to their happy and healthy development. To show them the possibilities through our everyday actions, home, work and school activities, and learning experiences in a supportive positive manner.Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?Our luxury apparel business was born to provide an online shopping site with a range of eco-friendly, luxury apparel and wearables. Our launch plan took a detour when Covid arrived in early 2020, as we noticed a shortage of reusable, comfortable, attractive and eco-friendly face mask options here in our own city of Los Angeles and across the entire U.S. So designing, creating and printing custom, reusable face masks became our primary focus for our start-up, and currently still is.We both work closely together in a very hands-on manner with our entire operation, from creating our own original designs, fabrication and packaging everything by hand and personally checking quality of every item we create for our customers. We are planning to launch three separate luxury apparel lines this Summer which will include many of the usual wearables such as Tshirts, shorts, hats, backpacks, eyewear, etc., for those in need of fresh eco-friendly designs and fashion twists for 2021.If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?We’re looking forward to hopefully share some exciting places here in Los Angeles this Summer with our out-of-towner friends and family, as there’s such a variety of fun and interesting things to do here in our mild-weathered city. Our family favorites are the beaches from Rancho Palos Verdes to Zuma, including Santa Monica Pier, art installations, museums and the La Brea Tar Pits along the Miracle Mile, the Natural History Museum, many scenic hiking paths leading to overlooks along the Santa Monica Mountains and, of course, some shopping along Melrose.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?We dedicate our shoutout to our Moms! It’s because of their guidance, sharing of time, talent, experience and encouragement to pursue our interests in art, fashion and family, that we were able to mesh our experience and efforts with our busy family life to start-up our own small business special to us both.
